Ideas?

Wow- it's already so late! Where did the time go tonight?! Ooooh....I remember I was cleaning out all the JUNK from the guest bedroom. Just a little tip folks- DO NOT start using your guest bedroom bed as an extra closet or as the place where you throw all of your junk anywhere you can in the guest bedroom the morning that the maid is coming. You will pay for it. (Sigh)

But before all that cleaning up I watched One Tree Hill. Anyone else a lifer like me?
When Clay realized that he had a son and had blocked it out and that his son was right down the hall I totally shouted at my tv. "NO WAAAAAY!" Scared the bejeezus out of the cat too.

Anyhoo....today I realized it we were on our last cut and color as morning work. Honestly I thought my kids would be happy about it and ready for something else. But instead I got, "What?!" "Have you looked for more cut and colors?" "Oh noooo!" So now I'm asking you all- do you have a resource for cut and colors? OR do you have a resource for other morning work that you would suggest?

  1. Umm...what are "cut and colours"? Okay, I'm totally worried that this is a really dumb question.

  2. We lost our "free" copiers....and so now we have to pay 1 cent per copy out of our allocation money =(....so I use our phonics workbook for morning work to save money.

  3. I see teachers have daily sentences to fix, math problems on the board, one writes a riddle and the class has to solve it.

Also a color by number, but the paper is 11x17 I think, and takes several mornings to finish.

  4. Hey I was in your boat too with morning work so I made some morning work packets. We use them every single day. They are challenging so the first week we quickly reviewed the answers as a group after they had given it a try. Now they are independent with it.
The packets are in my stores. I have two months worth now. I have language and math and I run them back to back. They do both sides every morning.

I don't watch one tree hill but now I want to!
    :) p.s. can I have your maid...currently I am maid. I don't get paid. I don't like that job.

  5. We do Drops in the Bucket- It is by Frog Publications. (I think) There is a math version and reading version- we actually have and use both.

  6. I have used drops in the bucket too and it is great! A good review of all math skills. I have been using Made for 1st Grade's Word of the Day packet. It has worked really well, I have been putting some sort of math review on the back for them.
    Hope this helps!

  8. I have watched OTH since the beginning, though the last few years I keep asking myself why?? every time the stories go off the deep end. This year of course is no exception, and I though the kidnapping story was crazy but then they came up with the Logan story. WHAT??

  9. LOL Ok, I'm glad you got some helpful responses, because, as a third and fourth grade teacher, I was, like, "What's a cut and color? Cut and color WHAT?" LOL!
